How was your Thanksgiving? I hope you had a blessed and wonderful time! =)
First of all, I want you to know that I respect and love you as an actor and as a person. Your movies were a part of my childhood and teenage years. I tried to watch all of your movies, from Big Daddy to 50 First Dates. I like watching them because they were not only funny, but also presented valuable lessons in life.
Recently though, I’m really disappointed with the movies you made. I feel like times have changed, but the recipe of your movie didn’t. I don’t think that getting a gorgeous and famous actress as your leading lady is going to work anymore. I thought that you already learned a lesson in Don’t Mess with the Zohan, and that was the last mediocre movie I’ll see from you. After watching it, I was forgiving. You’re human after all, and allowed to make mistakes. I had a few good laughs from watching it anyway.
However, since the Zohan, all the movies you made seem to be getting worse. I’ve watched Grown Ups and Just Go with It simply because I just wanted to see something “new” from you. Or maybe because I just loved the cast. (I’ve discovered that any movie that has Jennifer Aniston in it is reason enough to watch it.)
Just the other day, I watched the trailer for Jack and Jill. Honestly, I have no intentions of watching it. If ever I’m going to watch it, it’s only because I like Katie Holmes, and of course, you.
I know you can do better, Mr. Sandler. Your talent is boundless and natural. I’m sure you can come up with better scripts in the next few years. I’m really hoping that you would, as I do not want to remember you as an actor who had ridiculous roles like Zohan and Jack and Jill.
I do hope you won’t hate me for writing this letter as I wrote this with nothing but love. I want be swept away again, the way 50 First Dates made me feel. I want to cry both of sadness and laughter like when I watched Click. You are a beloved and respected actor, so please stay that way.
