What’s your plan for today? Did you book a trip out of town? Or are you having a simple dinner at home?
Honestly, I don’t like going out during holidays even on Valentine’s because there are just too many people! So I always prefer staying at home and watch my favorite movies instead. And go out the next day. 😉
Now, I’d like to share with you movies that I have watched recently and in the past. I hope you like them!
Groundhog Day was released in 1993, but I just watched it recently. This is one of the greatest comedy films of all time. Maybe you’re thinking, why comedy for Valentine’s? Although this movie is categorized under the comedy genre, it is one of the sweetest movies I’ve ever seen. I watched this movie without any idea of what the story is. I didn’t watch any of its movie trailers or read reviews about it. I watched it with the faith that this movie will provide me a good laugh and it did. This is a classic film that is definitely worth your time.
Up may appear to be a movie for kids, but I really believe that this is a great movie that everyone can relate. This is the only movie that made me cry on the first two minutes of the film.It speaks of love that is pure and everlasting.
The Princess and The Frog
This is another wonderful movie to watch with the whole family or friends. It is a modern fairy tale based on The Frog Prince book. What is great about this movie is that it still follows the formula of they-lived-happily-ever-after theme, but was able to incorporate a more modern and less sexist concept of women. You won’t see any ugly step sisters or evil step mothers but of course, there is still that formula that always works: reaching for your dreams and finding your true love.
10 Things I hate about you
If you’d like to see Heath Ledger (Patrick Verona) in his younger days (and living days..huhu) pulling of a charming singing stunt of Can’t Take My Eyes Off You as he tries to woo Julie Stiles (Kat Stratford), then you shouldn’t think twice about seeing this movie. This was one of my favorite movies back in high school and I watched it for like a hundred times. It’s got a great cast, interesting characters, and very cool sound track.
Just Like Heaven
One of the movies which I think would be very ideal for couples on Valentine’s day. It is a visually gorgeous film.
He’s just not into you
I know this is probably not the most romantic film in this list (or of all time), but I so love the cast of this film. It’s also fast-paced, funny and simply entertaining. I liked how this film unraveled the connection of each character. It did a great job in showcasing the different sides of love, friendship and heartbreaks.
Last Chance Harvey
Last Chance Harvey may not be a box office hit, but it sure got the critics talking. One of the highest rated films in Rotten Tomatoes, it is definitely a surprisingly good movie. It is a very honest film about how love can get you in an unexpected time and place (and age).
What are your favorite romantic films, geeks and girls? Any special plans for today? If you hate Valentine’s, that’s alright. Share your thoughts anyway.
Happy Valentine’s! May your day be filled with lots of love. 🙂
