I’m in Love with the new iPod!

As expected, rumors about the iPhone 5 turned out to be true as Apple unveiled its newly designed line of products last September 12. Although with its new and shiny bells and whistles, I’m not really excited to own an iPhone. There are a few high-powered smartphones in the market today that can compete with Apple in terms of performance and price.

What I’m really excited about is the new iPod touch 5th gen. It’s larger, thinner, and a lot better! πŸ™‚

The iPod touch and I go back a long way. I had the second generation almost four years ago, sold it last year, and used the money to buy the fourth generation iPod. It’s the first Apple product that I bought. I call it the “gateway” Apple device. Once I started using it, it also led me to buy the MacBook and the first iPad.

First off, the new iPod has a gorgeous four-inch retina screen. It’s as big as the new iPhone! I bet photos and videos would look stunning.

It’s processor has also been upgraded to the A5 chip similar to the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4. Apple claims that “it would provide up to twice the processing speed and up to seven times faster graphics.” It won’t be probably as fast as the iPhone 5’s A6 chip, but I’m sure that the improvement will be noticeable. I hope that with its new chip, browsing, watching videos, playing mobile games, and taking photos will be smooth and seamless.

The camera has also immensely improved! Compared to its predecessor which has only 0.7 megapixel, the new 5 megapixel camera is one of the reasons why this piece of gorgeous machine is a great value for its price. It also comes with a LED flash, which will definitely help taking photos indoors. With the new camera specs, I’m sure that I’ll be able to take decent photos without having to use the “effects” in Instragram. For those who love taking videos, it can also shoot full 1080p videos.

On top of the new chip and camera, the iPod touch 5th gen comes with the new iOS 6. With this update comes Siri. This will totally add a new and fun experience in using the iPod.

Lastly, it now comes in five colors. Honestly, I like the classic black and aluminum Apple design, but it’s good to have other options as well. So far, I’m leaning towards the pink and the blue colors.

Apple will be taking preorders starting September 14th. Hopefully, it’s going to be released in the Philippines by the end of October. Price starts at $299. I could only speculate that it costs around P13000-P16000 for the 32 gig. I’m really hoping that I can buy it as soon as it is released! I think I won’t be able to sleep until then. πŸ™‚ I’m planning to sell my 4th gen, so at least a third of the total amount can be covered.

To iPhone fans, here’s the much-awaited iPhone 5 trailer

I’m expecting to see a lot of parodies for this trailer in YouTube soon. πŸ™‚

What do you think, girly geeks? Are you impressed with the new iPhone and iPod? Are you planning to buy one? Right now, I’m really excited to get my hands on both devices. And I can’t wait to own the iPod touch!
